Mastropietro, Alessandro, (1968) studied piano, composition, electronic music and orchestral conducting at the Conservatory of LAquila. He graduated with a dissertation about Nono’s last works with live electronics, and obtained his PhD on the basis of an investigation into experimental musical theatre in Italy during the Nineteen-sixties and -seventies. His scholarship (which includes numerous publications and participation in international symposia) is primarily concerned with Contemporary Music, but also includes music criticism and writing about Italian instrumental Music during the late 18th century. He edited the critical edition (published in the ‘Le Sfere’ serie) of the writings by the composer and theorist Domenico Guaccero (1927-1984). Alessandro Mastropietro is also active as a conductor and musical director, and was artistic manager of the Concert Society in L’Aquila. He currently holds the post of professor in Musicology and History of Music at the University of Catania., Włochy
