Misuraca, Pietro, (Sciacca, 1962) studied piano at the Conservatory and Modern Letters Department at the University of Palermo. In 1996 he was awarded a PhD in History and Analysis of Music at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, with a thesis on L’opera pianistica di Karol Szymanowski (tutor: Professor Paolo Emilio Carapezza). Since 2006 he has been Researcher at the University of Palermo. He teaches History of Contemporary Music at the Course in Musicological Disciplines. His research deals with 20th-century music (with a focus on Debussy, Schònberg, Szymanowski, Sciarrino), Renaissance madrigals and analyses of the musicological views of Luigi Rognoni, whose archive and correspondence he catalogued and studied. His published volumes include Carlo Gesualdo Principe di Venosa, Palermo, L’Epos 2000, Luigi Rognoni e Alfredo Casella.
