Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The author accepts the terms of the attached agreement for granting a royalty-free license to works with a commitment to grant a CC sub-license "link”).

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • (1) The submission file is in Microsoft Word/OpenOffice document file format. (2) The text is 1,5 line-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are in high resolution and pdf format. (3) Where available, DOI or URLs for the references have been provided. (4) The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines (ASA Style). (5) Author name, affiliation, affiliation address, ORCID and email should be stated on the first page.

Author Guidelines

Authors of manuscripts for Society Register should use APA Format (6th ed.). It is recommended to use EndNote for referencing (https://endnote.com/style_download/apa-6th-american-psychological-association-6th-edition/).

All manuscripts should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents. Please use a standard TNR font in 12-point, double-spaced, with 2,5 cm margins all around. Submitted papers are usually around (i) 30 manuscript pages in length (articles and articles by early-stage researchers), (ii) 20 manuscript pages (discussions and research notes).

This includes (1) title page, (2) abstract, (3) keywords, (4) text, (5) references, (6) tables, and (7) figures.

Manuscripts that do not conform to the desired format will be returned to the author for rectification. To ensure anonymity during the review process, authors should remove from the manuscript all identifying references, including references to their own past publications.

ARTICLE TYPES:

  • Articles (original research articles and case reports) [between 6,000-8,000 words]
  • Discussions and research notes [between 2,500-5,500 words]
  • Book reviews [between 2,500-5,500 words]
  • Interviews

All types of articles in Society Register undergo rigorous peer review, based on initial screening by editors and subsequent double-blind refereeing by multiple reviewers.

Each paper should contain the following obligatory parts:

(1) Author’s full (capital letters) name and academic title(s);

(2) Author’s full affiliation (including: name of the department, faculty and university, postal address and e-mail). If the author affiliates him/herself with a business organization or institution, please, supply adequate information on the organisation’s full title and address and e-mail address;

(3) ORCID ID (see https://orcid.org/);

(4) Title of the paper (max 15 words);

(5) An abstract (100-200 words) to disclose the main idea of the paper and your research results;

(6) Keywords (5-7 meaningful words/phrases);

(7) Main body of the text;

(8) References in the alphabetical order in APA 6th ed. (EndNote is recommended with DOI numbers). References should be clearly cited in the body of the text, e.g. (Bauman, 2006) or (Bauman, 2006, p. 45);

(9) Acknowledgements;

(10) Short biographical notes.

All figures (charts, diagrams, web pages, and photographic images) should be of high quality (in pdf format) and include the source and legal consent (it is the responsibility of the author(s) to obtain permission from the copyright holder to reproduce figures and tables that have previously been published elsewhere).

Abstract for empirical (qualitative or quantitative) papers should include:

  • Background (objective(s) of the study including the main research questions, aims or theory)
  • Methods (design/methodology/approach: study design, participants, measures, methods of data collection and analysis)
  • Findings
  • Discussion ([a] research limitations/implications, [b] practical implications, [c] social implications)
  • Originality/value

The main body of the text should follow the structure of the abstract.

Abstract for other types of papers should include:

  • Background (objective(s) of the study including the main research questions, aims or theory)
  • Methods (design/methodology/approach: major arguments, conceptual framework, conceptual integration and analyses, or proposed standpoints)
  • Findings
  • Discussion ([a] limitations/implications, [b] practical implications, [c] social implications)
  • Originality/value

The main body of the text should follow the structure of the abstract.

The journal publishes contact data for authors to ensure easy academic communication for prospective readers. However, neither this data, nor any personal information collected during the publication process will be used for any other purposes or shared with any third parties.
