History
A journal devoted to general and comparative linguistics which published articles, reviews and review articles in English and initially also in Polish, French, German and Russian. The first volume was issued in 1949 with financial support from the Faculty of Science of the Ministry of Education in Poland and the editorial board (T. Milewski, J. Otrębski, M. Rudnicki and L. Zabrocki). Since 1953 the journal has been published by PTPN, and from 2000 by PTPN in cooperation with the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures AMU. Initially a yearly, since 2010 'Lingua Posnaniensis' has been a biannual and it has been publishing articles, reviews and review articles in English. The journal is on the European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH) and Scopus.

Ethics
The editorial team of "Lingua Posnaniensis" makes every effort to ensure that the publishing practice meets all national and international ethical norms, requiring high standards both from itself and from the authors.
- The editorial team evaluates manuscripts for scholarly intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the author(s). It will not disclose any information about a manuscript under consideration to anyone other than the author(s), reviewers and potential reviewers, and in some instances the editorial board members, as appropriate.
- The editorial team acts in compliance with the respective guidelines of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
- The authors are required to provide full information about the extent of their contributions to the publication. Ghostwriting as well as guest authorship, or honorary authorship, are not acceptable.
- The authors are required to provide their affiliation with research institutions and other entities whose activities may have factually affected the data presented in the publication or which have directly or indirectly supported the publication financially or in a different manner.
- The editorial team is committed to disclose any detected manifestations of scholarly dishonesty, which will result in the rejection of the text submitted for publication.

Sciendo archives the contents of this journal in Portico - digital long-term preservation service of scholarly books, journals and collections.
