Abstract
The article is devoted to analysis of higher education discourse in Poland.
Recent developments are interpreted from the perspective and compared to
New Public Management and new institutional economics, which can be viewed
as the most influential among narratives of public service reform. NPM narrative
and its presence in reform discourse are discussed in the first part of the article,
while the second is focused on potential dangers and positive effects related to
implementation of NPM in higher education.
