Author Guidelines
Studia Anglica Posnaniensia accepts articles from 7,000 to 9,000 words in length on topics related to English-language literatures and linguistics. Papers on the cross-section of linguistics and literary studies and literature/linguistics and cultural studies are also accepted by the journal.
General style and referencing guidelines for authors’ submissions can be found here. Please use Times New Roman, font size 12 (for block quotations of more than 50 words, use font size 10). Use footnotes only when necessary. Do not use endnotes. Final stylesheet guidelines for formatting will be provided after the submission is accepted for publication.
When submitting to Studia Anglica Posnaniensia, please upload two files in .doc or .docx format: 1) a file with the author’s details (name, email address of the corresponding author and affiliation) and 2) an anonymised file, which should be named: Title_anonymous. Both files should include the title of the paper, an abstract of 250-300 words, a list of keywords, the text of the article and references. The anonymised file should be stripped of the name(s) of the author(s) and any metadata that would allow identification of the author(s).
AI Policy for Authors
Authors are accountable for the originality, validity, and high academic quality of the content of their submissions. Prospective authors are required to comply with recommendations for the use of generative Artificial Intelligence in research adopted at Adam Mickiewicz University. Please note that LLMs (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) have no legal entity and, therefore, must not be included as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to the journal.
Studia Anglica Posnaniensia requires that, as a rule, the use of generative AI in the preparation of submissions be limited to language editing for grammar and clarity, proofreading, and managing works cited. It is acceptable to generate graphs, flowcharts, and tables; however, this practice is discouraged due to the significant risk of inaccuracies and misrepresentation in AI-generated content (e.g., implicit biases and so-called “hallucinations”). Other forms of AI-generated material are permitted only in cases where AI tools and AI-generated content constitute the object of study. Generative AI tools must be selected with full consideration of potential legal consequences.
Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors, nor may their use substitute for human critical thinking or compromise the standards of due academic diligence. At the time of submission, authors must disclose in the manuscript any use of generative AI in preparing the content of the submission, including (1) all the ways in which such tools were used, (2) the name, model, and version of the generative AI tool used, and (3) state which parts of the manuscript were generated in whole or in part using generative AI.
Therefore, Studia Anglica Posnaniensia prohibits other uses of generative AI in research conducted in connection with the submission, especially when they could jeopardise the integrity and confidentiality of the work and may infringe on the rights of third parties. In particular, AI-generated artwork, images, and other creative outputs (e.g. creative writing) are not permitted. Non-compliance with these guidelines may lead, where warranted, to the issuance of a corrigendum, expression of concern, publication retraction, and/or legal action.
Proofreading and language correction
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are carefully proofread and linguistically polished before submission. This is particularly important for authors whose first language is not English. While the editorial team is happy to offer guidance and support during the editorial process, it cannot undertake extensive language editing or correction.
Please ensure that your manuscript is checked for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, clarity, and consistency of terminology before it is submitted to Studia Anglica Posnaniensia. Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to seek assistance from a professional proofreader, a colleague with strong academic English, or an appropriate language-editing service.
Please note that manuscripts requiring substantial language correction may be returned to the author(s) for revision before they can proceed to peer review. This requirement is intended to allow reviewers to focus on the scholarly content, argument, and methodology of the submission.
