About the Journal

Aims and Scope

"Annales Missiologici Posnanienses" is a peer-reviewed scientific journal addressed to those interested in research in the religious-cultural stream. The purpose of the this journal is to disseminate the results of research, exchange of views and ideas within the national and international scientific community dedicated especially to issues of theology, missiology and history of missions and intercultural relations. The thematic profile of the journal also admits interesting papers on issues related to cultural anthropology, ethnology, ethnography and religious studies. The title of the journal refers to theological reflection on the presence of Christianity in diverse cultural contexts. The primacy of this perspective does not exclude the inclusion in the discussion of representatives of other scientific disciplines devoting time to the study of the cultural richness of humanity.

The journal publishes texts in Polish and congressional languages.

We invite authors specializing in the following fields of knowledge to publish scientific articles and editorial reviews: theology, missiology, history of missions, religious studies, history of religion, ethnography, ethnology, ethnohistory, cultural anthropology, cultural studies.

The system makes it possible to identify similarities in a text by comparing it with publications available on the Internet and indexed databases, and identifying the sources of passages. Works in which borrowings from other authors are found inappropriately cited or plagiarized will be rejected by the editors, and violations of either copyright or good scientific practice will be reported to the management of the author's employing institution. If plagiarism is found in a published paper, the Editorial Board will withdraw the text and post a notice to this effect on the journal's website and/or in the printed version.

Expansion of the full-text database of the PRESSto platform with archival issues of journals published at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan of the journal "Annales Missiologici Posnanienses" No. 15-17 - the task is financed under contract 662/P-DUN/2017 from the funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education earmarked for science dissemination activities.

History of the journal

The first volume of the journal was published in 1928 under the title: "Yearbooks of the Association of Academic Missionary Circles. An Annual Magazine Devoted to the Issues of Missiology" (volumes 1-4). Starting with volume five, the title was changed to "Annales Missiologicae. Missiological Annuals" and six more volumes were published under this title (volumes 5-10, the last in 1938). In 2000, the Faculty of Theology at Adam Mickiewicz University, in cooperation with the "Redemptoris Missio" Foundation for Humanitarian Aid in Poznan, decided to continue publishing a journal that had already earned a definite place in Polish missiology. First, it was published twice under the title adopted in 1932, with the explicit addition of a term indicating the environment with which it identifies: "Annales Missiologicae Posnanienses" (volumes 11-12). However, the Latin language garment of the title, given to the yearbooks in 1932, began to raise some doubts about its full grammatical correctness. Therefore - after prolonged hesitation - the fourth change of the title was made: starting with volume 13 (2003), the name "Annales Missiologici Posnanienses" was adopted. From 2001 to 2014, the journal was published on a biannual rhythm. From issue 19 (2014), the annual publishing rhythm was adopted again.
