Zrcadlo masopustu – baroque folk play

Abstract

Zrcadlo masopustu (A Carnival Mirror) is a folk play written in 1690 in Tábor. It is a baroque morality play with a synoptic title, built upon an architectonic rhythm. The Central Act, laden with architectonic correspondence, is an integral part of this rhythm. The plot of the play is occasionally accompanied by music. An important part of the play are its final words. The drama is architectonically framed, and Act One includes a crucial dreamlike scene.
