He has been a visiting professor at Oxford University, Yale University, École Pratique des Hautes Études and University of Illinois at Chicago; editor of the semiannual Sprawy Narodowościowe; author and editor of numerous anthropological books and articles.

assistant professor of the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and professor of the School of Social Psychology in Warsaw. He is the author and co-author of numerous book and articles on anthropological issues, including Antropologia refleksyjna. O rzeczywistości tekstu [Reflexive anthropology. On the reality of the text] (Poznań, 2001) and Miłość na Zachodzie. Antropologia historyczna [Love in the West. An anthropological history] (Poznań, 2004). He is a member of the editorial staff of the periodical Czas Kultury.
