The Middle East and the Middle East Conflict in the Resolutions and Decisions of the 9th Parliamentary Term of the European Parliament

Abstract

The purpose of the research, the results of which are presented in the article, was to show the position of the European Parliament towards the Middle East, resulting from the resolutions and decisions of the EP of the 9th term, taken in 2019–2024. The research hypothesis assumed that the position of the EP towards the Middle East, resulting from its resolutions and decisions taken, is in line with the basic policies of other EU institutions – the Council and the European Commission. The research used, among others, the method of institutional analysis. The research confirmed that the Parliament’s position is consistent with the policies of other EU institutions. Members of the European Parliament have diverse opinions on the Middle East Peace Process. Regardless of their views, however, they are unable to influence the actions of the parties to the conflict, or to bring about the realization of Parliament’s key demand - the resumption of direct negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
