Abstract
This monograph is the outcome of a conference held in 2022 at the Swiss Benedictine monastery in Disentis, addressing Mary’s unprecedented role in the victory of Jesus Christ over Satan and all forms of evil. It comprises fifteen articles. The first article introduces the topic, presenting the authors and the specific issues they have examined. The next four, rooted in biblical analysis, explore how the Protoevangelium (Genesis 3:15) and the Apocalypse of St. John (Revelation 12) serve as foreshadowings of both Mary’s present and ultimate victory over Satan and evil. The subsequent seven articles offer commentary on historical events, such as revelations in Fatima, and testimonies that suggest Mary’s continued involvement in victories within the Church and the world — whether military, such as the Battle of Lepanto, or both earthly and spiritual, such as in exorcisms. The final section, dogmatic in nature, consists of three articles exploring the theological significance of the title ‘Mary the Victorious’, i.e. elucidating its origin and the essence of Her participation in overcoming Satan and is temptations.
