Abstract
This research draws attention to the fact that Ukrainian linguists primarily study the appositive syntaxeme in the official style of speech in the context of observing the current orthographic, grammatical and punctuation norms of the modern Ukrainian literary language. At the same time, there are no separate scientific works devoted to the semantic and stylistic potential of the appositive syntaxeme. We examine the selected factual material using the comparative method and the method of semantic and stylistic analysis. The study defines a classification of the semantic and stylistic functions of the appositive syntaxeme (in unseparated and separated positions) in documents – the main type of texts in official style. We discovered that the appositive syntaxeme contributes to the realization of a number of defining features of the official style. The appositive syntaxeme with the function of denotative identification (in unseparated and separated positions) confirms a high degree of standardization of language means, clarity of statements and unambiguity in the perception of content. A semi-predicative appositive syntaxeme, which performs the function of significant identification, confirms the accuracy and logic in the presentation of the content, the use of unambiguous terminology. The appositive syntaxeme of interpretative and clarifying identification (in unseparated and separated positions) concretizes, strengthens the semantics of the modified word, and contributes to the accuracy, unambiguity, clarity of statements; it can contain an element of estimative meaning.
