Abstract
The article explores the challenges faced by the Ukrainian humanities during the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, as well as the responses that can be given to these challenges. Among the time-driven responses are: representing and understanding the war at the appropriate discursive level; deconstructing contemporary Russian narratives, forming and understanding Ukrainian nar- ratives about the war; destroying Russian imperial narratives on intellectual platforms outside the country; true understanding of the history of the Soviet period, including its late period, without which Ukrainian society is unable to overcome its post-Sovietness (collective resentment, feelings of inferiority, personality split, compensatory search for “scapegoats”); creating a concept of a modern Ukraine, which will emerge and be shaped on the basis of identity, creativity, technology, and effort.
