Abstract
The article analyses the utterances of dialect speakers from the perspective of language reflection. The issues of ethnic, cultural and linguistic self-identification embedded in the traditional speech culture of the inhabitants of the Omsk region are studied through the prism of the opposition us – them. The speakers of various dialect types in the Middle Irtysh region realise their ethnic and cultural belonging, however, simultaneously they perceive themselves as Siberians. This is true also for bilingual respondents (Czechs, Belarusians, Ukrainians, etc.).
