assistant professor at the Department of Musicology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. He was awarded his PhD in 1997 for the subsequently published thesis Semantyka tonacji w niemieckich dziełach operowych XVIII-XIX wieku [The semantics of keys in German operas of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries] (Toruń, 2000) and his habilitation in 2005, based on the Habilitationsschrift Afekt w operach Mozarta i Rossiniego [Affect in the operas of Mozart and Rossini] (Poznań, 2004). His research focuses on eighteenth-century opera, especially the history, aes thetics and sociology of the genre. Since 2000 he has been editor-in-chief of the opera journal Operomania published by Poznań Opera House and since 2004 - program consultant to Poznań Opera House.
