Abstract
The article analyses the results of a study on the declarative sense among local politicians regarding being guided by local patriotism in their political activities and perceiving the inhabitants of their cities as local patriots. The survey was conducted in 2024 among local politicians from 11 cities in Western Pomerania and 10 cities in Subcarpathia as part of a project entitled ‘Local politicians, patriotism and perception of threats. A comparison of cities in Subcarpathia and Western Pomerania’. The study showed that local patriotism serves as a strong declarative norm among local politicians. However, there is a statistically significant difference in the declarations of local politicians from the cities of Subcarpathia and Western Pomerania regarding being guided by local patriotism in their decisions. Local politicians from the Subcarpathian region were more confident in their declarations. On the other hand, no statistically significant difference was found in the statements of local politicians from Subcarpathia and Western Pomerania regarding their perception of local residents as patriots. Local government officials from both analysed regions generally consider the inhabitants of their cities to be local patriots.
