Abstract
The article discusses The poetically stylised memories of childhood and youth. 1905–1933 by Anna Kowalska, stored at the Ossoliński National Institute. The work has been analysed in terms of issues of femininity, otherness and non-normative sexuality. Kowalska’s feminist beliefs were influenced by the women around her and her own, often difficult, life experiences. The issues of femininity in Kowalska’s work are closely linked to the writer’s non-normative orientation. The memories capture a sense of separateness from the female colleagues surrounding Kowalska, as well as her nature-reflecting relationship with the male gender.
