Abstract
Due to its experience of general Francisco Franco’s right-wing dictatorship, for a long time Spain seemed to be a country free of far-right parties. It changed once the VOX party entered the scene – created in 2013 by former members of the People’s Party, it quickly went from being a political underdog to becoming the third force in the Spanish parliament. The aim of this article is to characterize the VOX party, while also analyzing its election results in the years 2014–2019. The author tries to answer the following questions: what attracts Spanish voters to the VOX party and what is the source of its success in the last general elections?
