Abstract
This article examines the intellectual profile and selected linguistic contributions of the late Jerzy Pogonowski, a distinguished linguist, logician, mathematician, and methodologist. The analysis is conducted from a (meta)linguistic perspective, situating Pogonowski’s views within the broader context of contemporary debates on the foundations of linguistics in international scholarship. It is argued that his work should be firmly located within the tradition of theoretical (formal) linguistics. The article also incorporates a brief autobiographical note, in which the author reflects on his earliest academic encounters with Pogonowski.
