Peer Review Process

The Editorial Board of the Środkowoeuropejskie Studia Polityczne carries out a preliminary verification of submitted texts to examine their relevance for the profile of the periodical and conformity to editorial requirements.
Texts that have been initially approved are submitted for reviews by two reviewers listed as collaborators of the Editorial Board. If a text is written in a foreign language, one of the reviewers is affiliated with an institution abroad. The names of the reviewers of individual texts are not disclosed.
The principle of anonymity is observed in the review process with respect to the author and the reviewers (double-blind review process).
The reviewers evaluating the text fill in a review form. The form is available from the website of the periodical.
The function of the review is consultative, which means that the final decision of accepting the text for print is made by the periodical’s Editorial Board.
Detailed review principles of papers are in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science published in the booklet Dobre praktyki w procedurach recenzyjnych w nauce [Good practices in academic review procedures]).

Open Access Policy

The Open Access Policy allows authors to make their writings openly accessible. The immediate online dissemination of scholary research results in growth of new knowledge and increased impact of research as articles available online are more often cited.

For this reason, the journal “Środkowoeuropejskie Studia Polityczne” decided to apply best practices and standards in open access according to DOAJ principles. Authors of scholary articles accepted for publication in the periodical “Rocznik Integracji Europejskiej” grant the publisher (Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań) an exclusive right to publish their articles in traditional printed form and in electronic form (via the Internet site of the journal; AMUR–Adam Mickiewicz University’s open access repository; Pressto open-access platform; and BazHum, CEEOL, CEJSH, EBSCO Central and Eastern European Academic Source databases). In case of co-authored articles, each joint author grants the publisher an exclusive right mentioned above.

Consequently, articles provided to the “Środkowoeuropejskie Studia Polityczne” publisher will be stored, preserved, and made accessible in digital form. The full text of all content is available for free and open access without delay under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. License (CC BY 4.0), which means that texts may be copied, downloaded, redistributed and shared only if appropriate credit is given.

Granting an exclusive right to publish articles in traditional printed form and in electronic form, guarantees that any restriction on dissemination are lifted and authors get recognition they deserve[1], as deposits are made as early as possible, no later than the date of formal publication.

Anti-plagiarism Policy

To ensure the originality and high quality of published articles, the journal uses the newest procedures for assessing them and uses the  Crossref Similarity Check anti-plagiarism system using iThenticate software. The system enables the identification of text similarities by comparing it with publications available on the Internet and indexed databases and indicating the sources of fragments.
Papers that contain loanwords from other authors' papers, improperly quoted or plagiarized, will be rejected by the Editorial Board. Additionally, violations of copyright or good scientific practices will be reported to the management of the institutions employing the author. If plagiarism is found in a published work, the Editorial Office will withdraw the text and post information about it on the journal's website and/or in the printed version.

In order to maintain the high quality of articles and reviews as well as high ethical standards, the editorial office of Środkowoeuropejskie Studia Polityczne [Central European Political Studies] informs that the following rules apply to the procedure for submitting articles/reviews (hereinafter: articles):

  1. Articles submitted to publications that are deemed to contain signs of plagiarism are rejected.

  3. By submitting an article, the author declares that there is no conflict of interest in any form in relation to the submitted article.
  4. Comments indicated by the reviewers/reviewer that refer to possible plagiarism practices may lead to the Editorial Board’s decision to reject the application. If a violation of good publishing practices is suspected, the Editorial Board may appoint an additional reviewer whose task will be to verify the reviewer's comments in relation to possible plagiarism practices. The final decision on this matter is made by the Editorial Board.
  5. If information about a violation of good publishing practices occurred after the publication of the article, the author is obliged to immediately prepare an appropriate correction, and an appropriate information/explanatory note is published in the next issue of the journal.
