Abstract
The article presents how writers popularize their work among a wide audience by using new formats to discuss literature and related ideas. The research focused on blogs as a modern form of communication. Thanks to writers’ blogs, a new cultural environment is emerging, bringing people together not only based on literary preferences but also on worldview principles. A writer’s blog serves several functions: informational – providing updates on literary news, events, and the writer’s life; representative – when the writer represents a specific social group with shared interests; opinion-forming – when the writer, as an opinion leader, addresses society as a moral authority; consolidating – when the writer unites their community of supporters around a higher purpose (e.g., volunteering, fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, etc.); and educational – when the writer, as a representative of the nation’s intellectual elite, disseminates important information, encouraging people to reflect on timeless truths, historical lessons, ethical dilemmas, and other issues. The article also analyzes the role of writers’ blogs since the start of the war in 2022. It presents insightful quotes from writers about creativity in wartime. Overall, the article highlights the transformation of literature in the internet age and the expansion of its possibilities. It also outlines both the advantages and disadvantages of
the digitalization of literature.
