About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Exchange and popularization of knowledge on the past and contemporary times of states and nation in the Balkans. The periodical retain an interdisciplinary approach within the general field of humanities. The issues contain articles from a variety of domains, such as history, ethnology, art history, politics, and other humanistic ranges. The content is published in Polish, English, Russian, French, German and the Slavic languages of the Balkan Peninsula. Moreover, the journal contains reviews, reports and biographies of great scholars interested in the Balkan issues.
Peer Review Process
Each paper is refereed by two mutually independent reviewers. Since papers are submitted in languages not spoken in Poland, at least one of the referees is affiliated to a foreign academic institution. The requirements that should be met are specified in the review form (formularz recenzji). Please, note that each review results in an eventual statement as to the acceptance / lack of acceptance of the paper.
Reviews have a written form and are prepared in compliance with double-blind peer review model. It implies that both referees and authors do not know each other’s identities. Assisting staff will, then, take care of removing authors’ names from the metadata (document properties). Temporarily, for the purposes of reviewing process, authors’ names, addresses and e-mails, will be deleted also from submitted files that are sent to reviewers.
Reviewers’ names will be revealed not later than six months after a print version is issued.
Publishing ethics
PREVENTION OF GHOSTWRITING AND GUEST AUTHORSHIP
Editorial section wishing to comply with the norms set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education with regard to the functioning of scientific journals, and concerned about maintaining high standards of the scientific periodical Balcanica Posnaniensia, the Editorial Section kindly requests all potential authors to send back the form designed to protect against phenomena termed as “ghostwriting” and "guest authorship". By sending the article for publication the Author is obliged to add the statement that there is an authentic scientific publication and there is no phenomenon of Ghostwriting (guest authorship).
“Ghostwriting” describes a situation when a person has made a substantial contribution to the publication, but they have not been credited with co-authorship or their role has not been mentioned in the acknowledgements attached to the publication.

In the case of papers with more than one author, please provide contribution percentage at each name. At the same time, we wish to inform that responsibility for complying with the above rules lies with the person who submits the paper for publication.
In order to guarantee originality of the published articles, the journal follows the established procedures in preventing plagiarism.
