Abstract
The article is a report of studies done on the mobility of scientific workers on the initiative of the State Committee for Scientific Research. Starting from the assumption that mobility as a common feature accompanying scientific work helps it to accomplish its mission when it consists in searching for the best working conditions from the standpoint of the goals of scientific activity and in entering into lasting and periodic contacts with institutions and persons in the field of science and outside it, the authors attempt to determine: with what manifestations of the mobility of scientific workers have we been dealing with most often in the last five years; what are the attitudes of scientific workers towards this matter and what, in their opinion, is the desirable model of mobility; what factors are conducive to mobility oriented to completion of the mission of scientific worker and what are the most serious obstacles to this mobility?
