Abstract

The aim of this article is to systematize the characteristics constituting political celebrities, which are related to the concepts of deep mediatization, digital thrownness, and media diet consumption. The first part of the article presents the current state of research on the issue of political celebritization. The second part explains the context of the analysis. The third part presents selected implications of the mediatized digital reality for the process of political celebritization. The paper contains an analytical consideration of this subject, using a literature review and analysis and synthesis methods. Traditional media and media platforms significantly influence the media visibility of political celebrities. Election campaigns reveal increased interest among politicians in the behavior of platform users, which in many situations implies celebrity-like attitudes among politicians aimed at increasing popularity and political support.
