Abstrakt
Tematem niniejszej pracy jest trwająca od roku 1954 seria filmów o Godzilli, która ma ścisły związek z tym, co aktualnie miało miejsce w Japonii. Opisana jest geneza słynnego potwora i jego pierwotne znaczenie, aby następnie wskazać na zmiany, przez jakie przechodził w kolejnych dekadach. Postawiony został nacisk na zmieniający się stosunek Japonii do USA oraz na inne dominujące nastroje i lęki Japończyków. Celem pracy jest skontrastowanie – za pomocą filmów o Godzilli – potrzeb obu tych krajów i wskazanie na ich nieustanne przyciąganie i odpychanie się od siebie.
