Janusz Korwin-Mikke’s political feature writing in the „Super Express” – argumentation and speech style

Abstract

This diploma thesis considers the rhetoric of Janusz Korwin-Mikke. The analysis of the rhetoric of the politician is based on his press publications in “Super Express” tabloid as well as on the politician’s official website. Rhetoric seems to be perceived in a negative way – as an ability to persuade or manipulate. From the historic point of view the reality is different. Rhetoric used to be equated with an ability to speak in a beautiful and, most of all, effective way. The issue of rhetoric of politicians still appears to be important these days – especially because they are using the communication channels which are much closer to the potential electorate in the present era of the development of new technology, which makes it more and more difficult, if not impossible, to avoid political electioneering.
