European Education Area – Premises of Its Creation and Context of Functioning

Abstract

The publication is devoted to the European Education Area, focuses on the social sources of its creation, on the levels of action, and presents different perspectives of analysis. The EEA is treated as one of the EU’s markets, its (u)creation is a complement to integration and social processes. Through the EEA and its own education policy, the EU pursues socio-political as well as educational goals. The educational objectives focus on standardisation processes, quality of education, human resources. The socio-political objectives relate to social inclusion, promotion of citizenship, labour market support, transformation processes. The future development of the EEA will be linked to the evolution of the EU, and the deepening of integration processes will increase the role of EU institutions in setting educational goals and building transnational structures. The research method appropriate for political science was used, in particular statistical data, documents and reports of EU institutions.
