Abstract
This article introduces the reader to issues of popular software called virtual globes. The main purpose of this paper is to define and review the basic theoretical issues related to these programs. In the first part of the article described theoretical combinations of virtual globes based on three dimensions: image (analog, digital), space (real, virtual), globe body (virtual, physical). In the second part presented popular program Google Earth’s capabilities as a virtual globe, described modules available for users and the example progress in the field of virtual globes software. In this part efforts were made to achieve the objective of popularizing..
