An analysis o f delimitate Gdańsk metropolitan area and its zones

Abstract

In response to proposals of delimitation of the Urban Functional Area of Voivodeship City which was compiled by Ministry of Regional Development, next delimitation of Gdańsk Metropolitan Area by GMA Association and Pomeranian Marshal Office, Gdańsk Development Office carried out the analyses of them all. To the following were taken into consideration: a synthetic index of urbanization, commuting, access to schools, services, entertainment etc., as well as forecast of impact on planned and ongoing road connections. Delimitation of MA should consider not only the results of indicators but also functional and political aspect. Moreover, another crucial characteristics of the delimitation are administrative cohesion and spatial continuity.
