Abstract

This study analyses the economic and environmental conditions for bioeconomy development in Poland’s Wielkopolskie voivodeship. Using a case study approach and indicator-based analysis, the study examines the structure of bioeconomy sectors, employment, and biomass potential. The findings indicate that the regional bioeconomy represents an important, though structurally traditional, segment of the regional economy, dominated by agriculture, food processing, and wood-based industries, with limited involvement of R&D and advanced biotechnology. The study contributes to the literature on regional bioeconomy development by highlighting the role of economic structures, innovation, and resources in shaping its development pathways.
