Abstract
If universities are to do their job really well they must modify their structure, organise themselves more flexibly so as to guarantee more effective realisation of their teaching and research objectives and supervise the quality of this realisation more efficiently. Good organisation means better control and more effective utilisation of resources (didactic and research). This article discusses two problems: the need for contracts regulating the mutual responsibilities of universities and their staffs and the need to develop separate didactic and research structures furthering more efficient and flexible approaches to research and teaching utilising selected elements of market Solutions within and without the universities.
