Abstract

This article was produced on the basis of the Author’s reports on seminars on the subject of the statistics of innovation, science and technology, organised by the European Union and OECD. It discusses the structures of both organisations engaged in the statistics of innovation, science and technology and the problems that form the subject of the seminars and discussions held by these organisations, including the fundamental paths of action which these organisations consider most important in the improvement of statistical tools. It also presents the work of a group of Polish OECD experts engaged in improving scientific-technical indicators, including an improvement to the Oslo Handbook, which is generally regarded as an international benchmark in statistical research into technical innovation in industry and in the market services sector.
