The Editorial Board of the academic journal Polonistyka. Innowacje hereby informs that it adheres to the provisions of the Act on Copyright and Related Rights [Ustawa o Prawie Autorskim i Prawach Pokrewnych (Dz. U. z 2022 r., poz. 2509)], the principles of good practice applicable in academic research, and the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, and publishers of the journal are also required to comply with the ethical principles adopted by the journal.
The Editorial Board considers ghostwriting and guest authorship as manifestations of academic misconduct; therefore, such practices will be exposed, made public, and reported to relevant entities (the authors' employing institutions, scientific societies, associations of academic editors, etc.). The Editorial Board also maintains transparency and provides information on publication funding sources and the contributions of research institutions, associations, and other entities (financial disclosure).
The journal is published in open access, which allows the Editorial Board to disseminate published articles, so that they are available to readers without restrictions. Open access ensures free, immediate, and unrestricted access to scientific research and the resulting academic knowledge, as well as the free sharing of it. Full electronic versions of the articles are made available on the AMU Open Academic Journals Platform – PRESSto (https://pressto.amu.edu.pl).
Anti-Plagiarism Procedure
To ensure the originality and high quality of published articles, the Editorial Board applies the latest evaluation procedures and utilizes an anti-plagiarism system. Any violation of the principles of academic integrity and scientific ethics, as well as any examples of such practices, will be disclosed, and the relevant institutions or organizations (e.g., the author's employing institutions, scientific societies, associations, academic publishers, etc.) will be notified. The Editorial Committee is obliged to archive information regarding violations of academic integrity and scientific ethics.
Ethical Principles for Editors
The editor decides whether to send a manuscript for review or reject it based on its significance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the thematic profile of the issue. The evaluation of a text is independent of the author's race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship, or political views. Accepted texts are sent for review, and the Editorial Board commits to maintaining full confidentiality of the submitted materials at every stage of the process. Information regarding the manuscript is shared only with reviewers and potential reviewers to the extent necessary to conduct the publishing process. Ethical behavior in this regard also includes avoiding any actions that could lead to a conflict of interest. Contents of the manuscripts may not be used in any form by individuals involved in the editing and reviewing process.
Ethical Principles for Authors
By submitting a manuscript, the author confirms the originality and reliability of the developed material and guarantees that the article has not been submitted, reviewed, edited, accepted for publication, or previously published elsewhere. Source data should be presented accurately, and the author is required to retain them. The Editorial Board does not require a mandatory research data management plan, but in exceptional cases, it may be necessary to make the data available both before and after publication. The text submitted to the Editorial Board must be fully original, and parallel submission of the same article to different journals (or monograph chapters) is considered unethical. This obliges the author to avoid redundant, duplicate, or parallel publication. If errors are detected in a published work, the author is required to immediately notify the Editorial Board. It is the author's duty to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and indicate sources of research funding. Conflicts of interest include all types of relationships that could influence an objective evaluation of the article. In the case of a multi-author article, the author ensures that all individuals who made a significant intellectual contribution to the research and the creation of the text are listed (along with their affiliation and contribution, i.e., information on who authored specific sections, hypotheses, methodology, etc.).
All cases of academic misconduct will be documented and reported to the relevant institutions, including scientific organizations and the authors' employing institutions.
Ethical Principles for Reviewers
The peer-review procedure in the journal Polonistyka. Innowacje is conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education published in the brochure Dobre praktyki w procedurach recenzyjnych w nauce.
The review provides a substantive, linguistic, and methodological evaluation of the submitted text and serves as the basis for its publication. A reviewer who does not feel qualified to evaluate the submitted content or is unable to complete the task on time is required to notify the Editorial Board. All text referred for review must be treated as confidential documents. The principle of confidentiality also applies to the results of the review process. Reviewers are required to adhere to the highest standards of integrity and objectivity. Reviewers are obligated to identify significant publications that have not been included by the author but are relevant to the topic under discussion. Avoiding a conflict of interest is linked with the necessity of declining to review a given text in the event of a potential conflict arising from personal, professional, financial, or other connections with the authors, institutions, or organizations involved in the creation of the reviewed work. In such a situation, the Editorial Board will appoint another reviewer.
Principles Regarding the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The developed rules result from the growing popularity of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept or reject a text based on information regarding the scope and method of AI use, which the author is required to disclose. The Editorial Board commits to monitoring the development and applications of AI and reserves the right to adjust the applicable rules accordingly.
Rules for Editors
Editorial decisions are based on an independent and critical human evaluation, in compliance with the principles of publication ethics. In the event of a suspected undisclosed use of AI generators, editors contact the author to obtain information regarding the preparation process of the work, verify the text using AI detectors available at the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of AMU, and forward the text for expert evaluation. The purpose of these actions is to ensure the compliance of the submitted publication with the principles of scientific ethics and the journal's policy regarding the use of AI.
Rules for Authors
Only a human can be the author of a text. AI and AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as co-authors of a work or cited as authorial sources. The Editorial Board permits the use of AI generators to improve the linguistic quality of the work, provided that the application of technology takes place under human supervision. Furthermore, the author is required to disclose in the text the scope and method of using AI and AI-assisted technologies, and the relevant information should be included in the published version of the article.
By submitting an article to Polonistyka. Innowacje, the author declares that the entire bibliography has been prepared by them, and if it was formatted using an AI tool, all positions have been properly verified and are correct. The final responsibility for the content of the work rests with the author.
Rules for Reviewers
Reviewers are not authorized to use artificial intelligence tools in the evaluation process of submitted text. Such actions violate confidentiality principles and copyright laws. The final responsibility for the review rests with the reviewer. In the event of a suspected undisclosed use of generators, the reviewer is obliged to notify the Editorial Board, which assumes responsibility for further investigative actions in accordance with the adopted verification procedures and the journal's policy.
