Abstract
This paper presents a proposal for an analysis of spatial differentiation of socio-economic vulnerability to climate change in Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. Vulnerability is a measure currently important in the literature that determines the level to which a given socio-economic system is exposed to bear the consequences of climate changes, and what its adaptive capacity is. This paper considers the socio-economic dimension in examining vulnerability to climate change at the local level. A set of socio-economic indicators describing the characteristics of territorial capital was adopted for the analysis, which then, with the help of indicator methods such as Pearson’s linear correlation, zeroed unitarisation; was prepared to calculate the Hellwig measure. Working on the obtained values of the Hellwig measure, a classification of units based on the arithmetic mean and standard deviation of the measure was carried out. The study showed spatial differentiation in Wielkopolskie Voivodeship in terms of socio-economic vulnerability to climate change. Some of the classified municipalities show a particular predisposition of a socio-economic nature to be adversely affected by climate change (these are municipalities with a very high susceptibility to climate change), which may further lead to the deepening of spatial differentiation between these areas in terms of the impact of socio-economic effects of climate change.
