Abstrakt
W artykule podjęta została próba pokazania ewolucji systemu szkolnictwa wyższego, jego adaptacji do zmieniającej się sytuacji społeczno-ekonomicznej krajów, a także lansowanych w świecie paradygmatów na przełomie XX i XXI wieku. Analizą objęta jest misja, funkcje, dobre i złe strony przedsiębiorczych, jak również elitarnych, rozpoznawalnych w świecie, badawczych uniwersytetów. Ranga, rola, wkład szkolnictwa wyższego w rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy krajów jest powszechnie uznawany jako najważniejszy, ale potencjał szkolnictwa wyższego nie zawsze i we wszystkich krajach jest wykorzystywany. Holistyczne ujęcie tych problemów prowadzi do refleksji, że najważniejsza przyczyna tej sytuacji tkwi w niedoskonałym przepływie informacji, niskim potencjale, słabym systemie bodźców, zwłaszcza w krajach słabo- i średniorozwiniętych gospodarczo. To skutkuje rozerwaniem więzi między poszczególnymi podmiotami szkolnictwa wyższego oraz między nimi a podmiotami otoczenia zewnętrznego.
