Abstract
The article discusses symptoms of the crisis of the university in Continental Europe. The authoress focuses her attention on an analysis of the educational function of the university. Taking as the starting point of the period of crisis “the turning point in the functioning of the university, in which there is a juncture or breakdown in the previous direction of development of this institution”, she describes the external causes of the crisis. In her opinion, the reversal of the line of development consistent with the tradition of the liberal university in Europe is irreversible.
