Abstract

In the Polish academic community there is a widespread belief that science in Poland is mired in a deep crisis. Views on the sources, sings, consequences and necessary remedial measures of this crisis differ sharply. The opinions prevails that the main cause of the crisis is inadequate funding of science. The article takes issue with this view. The author poses the thesis that the main source of the crisis are the forms of management, which are out of touch with the realities of Poland as a country attempting to catch up to the economically developed countries.
