Abstrakt

Artykuł zawiera omówienie kilku wybranych aspektów związanych z posługiwaniem się kategorią „zawodu” w analizach zjawisk społecznych prowadzonych w socjologii. Na wstępie autor przedstawia genezę zainteresowań tą zmienną. Następnie wskazuje konteksty, w jakich znajduje ona zastosowanie - że jest ona mianowicie: 1) przedmiotem zainteresowania sama w sobie, jako kategoria identyfikacji i opisu różnych środowisk społecznych, 2) obiektem refleksji teoretycznej i metodologicznej, jako narzędzie konceptualizacji i operacjonalizacji innych zjawisk, 3) „zmienną wyjaśniającą” w analizach, w których zjawiskami wyjaśnianymi są rozmaite atrybuty społeczne jednostek. Autor przedstawia także główne nurty refleksji związanej z problematyką zawodu we współczesnej socjologii, a na koniec sygnalizuje teoretyczne problemy i praktyczne trudności w posługiwaniu się wskaźnikami konstruowanymi na podstawie informacji o sytuacji zawodowej w badaniach socjologicznych
