About the Journal

Aims and Scope
The aim of the journal is to publish scientific dissertations and reviews of scientific works in the field of linguistics, especially Polish studies. In recent years the journal embraced the issues of linguistic comparative Slavic studies. Published papers represent the methodological approach appropriate for such subdisciplines of linguistics as pragmalinguistics, rhetoric, sociolinguistics, history of language, cultural and cognitive linguistics, linguistic communication, onomastics, language politics.
Although the journal is focused on Polish studies, or more broadly on comparative Slavic studies, thanks to the fact that it is published in the Open Access formula on the PRESSto online platform, its reach is unlimited. The successive issues are published half-yearly: the first volume in March, the second in September.

History
„Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne” (Poznań Polish Language Studies) have been published since 1976, originally as a journal dealing with both literary and linguistic issues; in 1994 it was divided into two series: the Literary and the Linguistic.

Ethics
Each publication is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers, not connected with a specific department, experts on the issues discussed by the published articles.
In the case of a text written in a foreign language, at least one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign institution other than the nationality of the paper’s author.
A recommended solution is a model in which the author(s) and reviewers do not know one another’s identities (the so-called “double-blind review process”).
In other solutions, a reviewer must sign a declaration that no conflict of interest occurs; the following relationships between a reviewer and an author are considered a conflict of interest:
a) direct personal relationships (kinship, legal bonds, conflict),
b) relationship of professional subordination,
c) immediate research co-operation over the period of two years preceding the preparation of the review.
A review must be in the written form and it must reach an explicit conclusion regarding the approval of the article for publication or its rejection.
The principles of accepting or rejecting a publication and the reviewer’s form are publically announced on the journal’s website or in every issue of the journal.
The names of reviewers of particular publications/issues are not made public; once a year the journal announces publically a list of collaborating reviewers.
The journal uses a ghostwriting barrier in compliance with the recommendations of MNiSW (Ministry of Science and Higher Education).

Information for authors
Authors are asked to check whether the text meets the following criteria. Texts that do not meet the editorial requirements may be rejected.
The text has not been previously published or submitted for printing in another publishing house.
The text is saved in a Ms Word (.doc) file, typed in Times New Roman with a 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing and 2.5-centimeter margins.
Paragraphs are highlighted with a paragraph indent.
Subheadings are bold and preceded by a single-line space.
Vocabulary and footnotes are automated and footnotes; endnotes should not be created.

Review process
The reviewing procedure is consistent with and complies to the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education published in: ”Good practices in reviewing procedures in science”.
Submissions are subjected to initial evaluation of their content compliance with the profile of the journal, which is done by the members of the Editorial Board and in close contact with the international advisory board. Accepted manuscripts are then sent to reviewers, who are not members of the Editorial Board. The following rules are strictly observed:
1. To evaluate each manuscript at least two independent external reviewers are assigned. The reviewers are leading specialists in the field and are familiar with issues raised in the articles to be published.
2. With manuscripts submitted in a language other than Polish, at least one of the reviewers has to be affiliated with a foreign institution that is different from the nationality of the author of the manuscript.
3. To ensure impartial reviews, the solution adopted by the Editors is the model in which author(s) and reviewers do not know one another’s identities (the so-called ”double-blind review process”) and do not enter into any conflict of interest, understood as a direct personal relation (kinship, legal relations, conflict), professional subordination, direct research co-operation within the last two years preceding the review.
4. The written review should be clear, constructive and consistent and the outcome of the review process should be conclusive and contain unequivocal advice and recommendation to the journal as to whether the manuscript should be rejected or accepted for publication.
5. The rules for acceptance or rejection of publications and the review form, are available on the journal’s web page.
6. Names of reviewers of individual publications/numbers are not revealed; once a year the journal publishes the list of reviewers.
.

Open Access Policy
The journal provides immediate, open access (CC BY-ND 4.0 International) to all its content based on the principle that the research published under open access policy accelerates the spreading, impact and the development of scholarship and the exchange of knowledge. The editors encourage authors to include their published articles in open repositories under the condition that the link to the journal's site and DOI no. of the original publication is given.
The journal does not charge the authors any fees related to the process of publication.
