About the Journal

Aims and Scope

The aim of the journal is to publish scientific dissertations and reviews of scientific works in the field of linguistics, especially Polish studies. In recent years the journal embraced the issues of linguistic comparative Slavic studies. Published papers represent the methodological approach appropriate for such subdisciplines of linguistics as pragmalinguistics, rhetoric, sociolinguistics, history of language, cultural and cognitive linguistics, linguistic communication, onomastics, language politics.
The papers are published in Polish or English.
The successive issues are published semi-annually: the first volume in March, the second in September, i.e. the first volume by the end of September, the second by the end of March of the following year. The journal’s content is made available in the Open Access formula on the PRESSto online platform, so their reach is not limited in time or space.

History

„Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne” (Poznań Polish Language Studies) have been published since 1976, originally as a journal dealing with both literary and linguistic issues; in 1994 it was divided into two series: the Literary and the Linguistic.

Anti-plagiarism Policy

To ensure the originality and high quality of published articles, the journal applies the latest procedures for evaluating them, and uses the Crossref Similarity Check anti-plagiarism system using iThenticate software. The system makes it possible to identify similarities in a text by comparing it with publications available on the Internet and indexed databases, and identifying the sources of passages. Works in which borrowings from other authors are found inappropriately cited or plagiarized will be rejected by the editors, and violations of either copyright or good scientific practice will be reported to the management of the author's employing institution. If plagiarism is found in a published paper, the Editorial Board will withdraw the text and post a notice to this effect on the journal's website and/or in the printed version.

Review process

The reviewing procedure is consistent with and complies to the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education published in: Good practices in reviewing process in science (in Polish).
Submissions are subjected to initial evaluation of their content compliance with the profile of the journal, which is done by the members of the Editorial Board and in close contact with the international advisory board. Prof. Tomasz Lisowski is responsible for manuscripts submitted in English. Accepted manuscripts are then sent to reviewers, who are not members of the Editorial Board. The following rules are strictly observed:
1. To evaluate each manuscript at least two independent external reviewers are assigned. The reviewers are leading specialists in the field and are familiar with issues raised in the articles to be published.
2. With manuscripts submitted in a language other than Polish, at least one of the reviewers has to be affiliated with a foreign institution that is different from the nationality of the author of the manuscript.
3. To ensure impartial reviews, the solution adopted by the Editors is the model in which author(s) and reviewers do not know one another’s identities (the so-called ”double-blind review process”) and do not enter into any conflict of interest, understood as a direct personal relation (kinship, legal relations, conflict), professional subordination, direct research co-operation within the last two years preceding the review.
4. The written review should be clear, constructive and consistent and the outcome of the review process should be conclusive and contain unequivocal advice and recommendation to the journal as to whether the manuscript should be rejected or accepted for publication.
5. The rules for acceptance or rejection of publications and the review form, are available on the journal’s web page.
6. Names of reviewers of individual publications/numbers are not revealed; once a year the journal publishes the list of reviewers.
