Ethical Guidelines
The following rules and guidelines for authors and reviewers apply in the process of submitting, editing and publishing texts in the "Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Seria Językoznawcza” („Poznań Polish Language Studies. Linguistic Series”) journal. The publishing house (Wydawnictwo „Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne”) is guided by international high standards regarding data protection, technology, archiving and ethical norms. They are based on the findings of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
Members of the editorial board and the international academic council, as well as authors, reviewers and publishers of the journal are obliged to comply with the ethical guidelines adopted in the journal.
At the same time, the editorial board undertakes to take all possible actions against violations of ethical norms that have to do with publications.
The journal is published in open access, which allows the editorial board to disseminate published articles so that they are freely available to readers. Open access enables the promotion of scientific research and the resulting academic knowledge and its free sharing. Full electronic versions of articles are available on the Adam Mickiewicz University Open Scientific Journals Platform (http://pressto.amu.edu.pl).
Ethical Guidelines for the Editors
The editorial board of "Poznań Polish Studies. Linguistic Series”, in cooperation with the international academic council, gives preliminary opinions on the submitted articles and decides which ones will be submitted for peer review. In their work, the editorial board and the academic council are guided by the principles of responsibility, impartiality, reliability and independence.
The initial selection is based solely on substantive parameters: originality of theses and methodological and linguistic correctness. The initial selection is not influenced by issues such as race, age, gender, sexual orientation/identity, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, academic rank and position, or political beliefs of the author(s).
Members of the editorial board are obliged to refrain from assessing the submitted texts when there is a conflict of interest between them and the authors, persons or institutions related to the text (competition, cooperation or other relationship or dependence). The content of the texts may not be used in any form by persons involved in the editing and reviewing process.
If the submitted article was negatively assessed by members of the editorial board, it is not sent for further work and its author receives written information about the unfavorable decision of the editorial board.
The editorial board place such articles with appropriate annotations in the journal's archives, but cannot use them in any other way without the author's consent.
After a positive decision of the editorial board, the article is sent to two independent reviewers. Reviewing is confidential and is carried out in accordance with the double-blind peer review standards, i.e. the author's identity is not disclosed to the reviewer before the publication of the text, and the author does not know the reviewer's identity.
The editorial board has the right to independently decide on the acceptance or rejection of the submitted text, without the influence of the publisher or other external institutions. The editorial board is guided by the opinions of reviewers, the journal's editorial policy and legal requirements relating in particular to issues of defamation, plagiarism, ghostwriting and any other copyright infringements. The final decision to publish or reject the text is made by the editor-in-chief in consultation with the editorial office.
The editorial board of "Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Seria Językoznawcza” refuses to publish scholarly unreliable texts (infringement of third party copyrights, plagiarism, lack of reliability of data, fabricating research results). In order to ensure the originality and high quality of published articles, the journal implements a modern evaluation procedure and is part of the CrossCheck system. Its tools allow you to compare documents with the world's largest database of academic content from multiple publishers.
Ethical Guidelines for Authors
Submitting a text on the Adam Mickiewicz University's Open Scientific Journals Platform (http://pressto.amu.edu.pl) means that the author confirms the originality and quality of the manuscript and ensure that the article has been submitted only to this journal (it has not been submitted, reviewed, edited, accepted for publication or published elsewhere).
Moreover, in the case of a multi-authored article, the author ensures that all persons who made a significant intellectual contribution to the research and creation of the text are indicated in it (with their affiliation and contributions, i.e. information who is the author of individual parts, theses, methodology, etc.). The author is also obliged to provide any information about the sources of financing for the publication, the contribution of scientific and research institutions, associations and other entities if they may be considered to have an impact on the results or their interpretation. The authors indicated in the article are jointly responsible for the submitted article and research.
The authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any visual materials used in the text (e.g. illustrations, tables) to which they do not have the copyright. At the request of the editorial board, authors should provide proof that they have permission to use these materials.
The authors are bound by the principle of scholarly integrity, which means objectivity in the interpretation of results, reliability of research and originality of publications. The submitting author warrants that the article does not contain unethical content (false, illegal, libelous, defamatory, offensive or obscene one).
All manifestations of scholarly dishonesty, including the use of the work of other people without specifying the source, ghostwriting (concealing someone's significant contribution to the creation of the publication) and guest authorship / honorary authorship (attributing as the author a person whose participation in the creation of the work was negligible or non-existent), are the basis for rejection of the article by the editors. They will be documented and disclosed.
The author has the right to appeal against the decision to reject the submitted article. If the author believes that this decision was made incorrectly, she or he must send an e-mail to the editor-in-chief or publisher, giving reasons why the decision was wrong. The appeal will be reviewed by a member of the editorial board who was not involved in the original decision (appointed jointly by the editor-in-chief and the publisher). Her or his decision is final and a further appeal cannot be made.
The authors retain the copyright to the submitted articles, but grant them to "Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Seria Językoznawcza” right of priority for publication.
