Abstract
This article is intended for education practitioners and researchers interested in the psychoeducational and therapeutic functions of fairy tales and storytelling. It offers a theoretical and practical overview of the role that narrative plays in children's development and well-being. The aim of the paper is to present scientifically grounded arguments in favor of using stories and fairy tales as tools to support emotional, cognitive, and social growth. The article explores the neurobiological mechanisms activated during narrative processing, including the influence of stories on brain function, the nervous system, and hormonal regulation. Drawing on developmental psychology, it outlines which types of stories are most appropriate at various stages of psychological development in children and adolescents, and how these narratives impact the developing psyche. Special attention is given to the role of storytelling in shaping moral understanding, enhancing mental well-being, and fostering social education. The article also provides a set of practical guidelines for the effective use and delivery of stories in both educational and therapeutic settings.
