A Dean’s memories on the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

Abstract

The 100th anniversary is an occasion to recall and commemorate all the major events that occurred at the University and the Faculty, and the many achievements and accomplishments that have shaped the current position of both institutions. Humans tend to remember especially those events in which they participated personally. In my case, the first of such events are connected with my studies at the Faculty, then there are the most important events that occurred during my employment at the Faculty as an academic teacher, and lastly the extra-university events in which I participated as a member of the academic community. This report describes some of the events which occurred during my studies, between 1956 and 1961. These are related to the studies themselves, as well as to activities undertaken in student research groups and student organizations. Other memories cover more than 63 years of my relationship with the University and the Faculty as an academic teacher, and in particular the period 2002–2008, in which I served as Dean of the Faculty, and they highlight the satisfaction and the pride I feel from being a member of the University community and the Faculty with their 100-year history, whose rank and achievements are chiefly due to eminent, outstanding professors who have through all those years greatly contributed to this position.
