Abstract
The article reconstructs the contexts that prepare the reading of Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica humanitas. The analysis covers continuity with Rerum novarum, the teaching on human dignity, Catholic reflection on algorethics, the distinction between human and artificial intelligence, and the social fields of AI reception: work, truth, privacy and war. The hermeneutical-contextual method serves to organise the documents, speeches and debates that define the encyclical’s closest horizon of meaning and prepare its further interpretation within Catholic Social Teaching.
