Abstrakt
Autor omawia problematykę powiązania między wykształceniem ogólnym otrzymywanym w szkołach wyższych a wymaganiami gospodarki na przykładzie amerykańskiego systemu szkolnictwa. Wskazuje na stopniowe przekształcanie modelu amerykańskiej edukacji wyższej zmierzające do oferowania studentom wiedzy i umiejętności pożądanych na ryku pracy. Ilustracji stanu współczesnego służy omówienie sytuacji na czterech amerykańskich uniwersytetach i dwóch mniejszych uczelniach.
