Abstract
Abstract. The character of Tomasz Treter, the artist and writer, who acted as a secretary to kings and bishop Stanisław Hozjusz, has enjoyed intense interest of researches in recent years. Insofar as the artistic work received detailed analyses, the literary one remains uncharted to such a degree that even his oeuvre is unknown. Treter’s work should include occasional literature dispersed throughout leaflets and as paratext. The aim of this announcement is the discussion about and translation of De insignibus, a stemma of the coat of arms of Maciej Strubicz included in Epigrammata in stemma Generosi Nobiliss[imi]que Viri D. Matthiae Strobicz, S.R.M. Secretarii, Equ[itis] Poloni (Brunsberga: Georg Schönfels, 1603). The writing has not been assigned to Treter so far, hence the announcement, apart from making its translation available, sets it in the Treter’s network, providing an impetus to further exploration of the poetic legacy of the Warmia canon. This example serves as an impetus to draw attention to the issues of attribution and cataloging of this type of works.
