Scope and impact of the journal

The journal publishes articles in the field of social and human sciences, for example sociology, pedagogy, cultural studies, art history, anthropology, linguistics etc. The journal has international reach and is being published semi-annually. New issues are being published mid year and at the end of each calendar year. The aim of the journal is to create an effective scientific platform for a debate focused on the contemporary social and cultural problems, including historical references and comparative studies.

Review Process

By submitting their papers to the journal authors agree to the review process. The condition under which a paper is accepted for further editing work is its compatibility with the journal’s scope. Submitted texts are evaluated formally by the editorial board and then reviewed by two reviewers who are not members of the editorial board. The reviewers are tenure scholars and are not employed in the same institution as the published journal, as well they do not stand in a conflict of interest with the author and with each other. A conflict of interest is being defined as relations between the reviewer and author such as: direct personal relations (kinship, legal relations, direct conflict), professional relations (as an employer and employee), or direct scientific cooperation within last two years prior to publication of the submitted text. The texts are being reviewed with maintaining confidentiality and anonymity accordingly with the double blind peer review rules (authors and reviewers do not know they names). Reviewers are not allowed to use their knowledge about the text before its publication. The text is given a reference number serving the purpose of identification on further stages of the review and the editing procedure. Authors are being informed about the outcome of the review procedure and at this stage it is possible to communicate via email with the editorial board about potential remarks and corrections or qualification for publication. Final publishing qualification decision is being made by the editor in chief. Reviews must have a printed form and must end with a clear conclusion about the acceptance or rejection of the submitted text. The editorial board reserves the right to send back the submitted text to the author for correction in the case of a negative review. The terms for qualification or rejection of the text and the review form are made open to the public at the journal’s website or in every issue. The list of names of the reviewers for the particular issues are published at the journal’s website after the publication of each issue.

Anti-plagiarism system applied in the journal

The journal uses the Crossref Similarity Check with iThenticate software to detect possible plagiarism cases.

Open access policy

The journal assures immediate open source access to all of its contents in accordance with the philosophy that all open source scientifc research contributes to the global development of science and exchange of knowledge in much greater extent and pace. The editorial board encourages authors to publish their texts also in other open source repositories (after the review or as a final version of the editor) under the condition that a link is being provided to the web page of the journal and a DOI number is stated.

The journal does not apply any submission fees.

Archiving

„Kultura – Społeczeństwo – Edukacja” is included in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which provides electronic backup and security of access to the content of the journal.

Financing source

The journal is being financed solely by the sources of the Faculty of Educational Studies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

History

The journal is being published since 2012 semi-annually at the Faculty of Edicational Studies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
