CFP: Fiction and Ecology. Literary, Film and Game Representations

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Dear Colleagues,

 

We are pleased to announce that the Editorial Board of the film studies journal “Images. The International Journal of European Film, Performing Arts and Audiovisual Communication” (DOI: 10.14746/i; ISSN: 1731-450X; E-ISSN: 2720-040X) has decided to prepare a volume in 2027 about the theme "Fiction and Ecology. Literary, Film and Game Representations.” We will accept articles for this issue only in English. As editors of this volume, we will be interested in texts addressing issues such as:

Literature, Film, Games:

  • ecofiction in various media,
  • apocalyptic and dystopian visions of the future in science fiction and ecohorror genre,
  • nature as a source of fear in literature, horror cinema, and horror games,
  • nature in fictional fantasy worlds,
  • aesthetic and ideological utopias of the solarpunk genre,
  • politics and aesthetics of literary, film, and gaming climate fiction (cli-fi).

 

Fiction of science/eco-fiction-philosophy in contemporary non-anthropocentric research:

  • natureculture in posthumanist discourse,
  • technonature in transhumanist discourse,
  • ecofeminism in science, social action, and audiovisual arts,
  • ecocriticism in an intersectional approach (e.g., ecocriticism and disability studies, ecocriticism and race, social class, ecocriticism and gender studies).

 

We kindly ask you to submit your articles by March 10, 2026. To submit your text, please use the internal PRESStosystem – register or log in to an existing account and follow
the guidelines of the university platform: https://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/i/user/register. The final paper you submit will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Chapters that receive positive evaluations will be included in the volume 1/2027. All information regarding the rules for preparing texts for review and publication is available on the website of the "Images" journal in the “About/Submission” section: https://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/i/about/submissions.

IMPORTANT! Next to the title of your article, provide in parentheses the proposed volume
of publication 1/2027 and the title of the volume "Fiction and Ecology".
