Abstrakt
Wielu badaczy wskazuje na schmittiańskie inspiracje we współczesnej polityce Stanów Zjednoczonych. Jest to o tyle paradoksalne, że sam Carl Schmitt uznawał USA za państwo, którego system polityczny nie jest najlepiej przygotowany na przyjęcie filozofii decyzjonistycznej, pierwsze prace na jej temat w Stanach Zjednoczonych, również nie były zbyt życzliwe. W artykule omówiono, używając teorii wędrujących konceptów autorstwa niderlandzkiej badaczki Mieke Bal, w jaki sposób idee Carla Schmitta trafiły do USA. Wskazano na przeniesienie ich na grunt amerykański przez Hansa Morgenthau (który zastosował teorię Schmitta do stosunków międzynarodowych), Leo Straussa (który dokonał translacji jego politycznej teologii na polityczną filozofię) i myślicieli lewicowych skupionych wokół pisma „Telos”, którzy przeczytali Schmitta wbrew Schmittowi.
