The Legal History Journal was founded in 1948 by Prof. Zygmunt Wojciechowski together with Prof. Zygmunt Lisowski, making it one of the oldest legal journals in Poland still published today. The subsequent chief editors of CPH were Prof. Michał Sczaniecki (1955–1977), Prof. Henryk Olszewski (1977–2014), and Prof. Małgorzata Materniak-Pawłowska (2015–2021).
