IMPORTANT INFORMATION - SUSPENSION OF ACCEPTANCE OF TEXTS TO THE VARIA SECTION
Dear All,
The Editorial Team of “IMAGES” would like to inform you that earlier announcement related to the temporary suspension of the acceptance of texts for the Varia section has been withdrawn. It was due to the huge number of articles received for this section and the long time required for publication of such articles.
However, the current situation allows us to restore the functioning of this section, so we would like to reinvite you to submit articles to Varia.
With best regards
Editors of “IMAGES”

Streaming platforms are bringing about a transformative shift in the global audiovisual industry. The local audiovisual market in Poland is experiencing notable changes due to the growing influence of these streaming platforms. While researchers in Anglo-American contexts extensively analyze the repercussions of global players like Netflix, Disney +, HBO Max, Apple or Amazon, the impact of these media giants’ activities have been overlooked in media and film studies in Poland. A current priority is to identify areas where the influence of Netflix, Disney and HBO and other streaming platforms on the Polish industry is substantial, leading to observable changes in established practices and work systems. This thematic issue aims to explore the impact of streaming as globalizing forces and digital technologies, both locally and globally. We invite authors to reflect upon ongoing political, economic, creative and technological disruptions, and their long-term societal implications.
